So you want to Volunteer?

We're excited that you're interested in volunteering with us! There are many ways in which you can help out at The Movement. Many of our volunteer opportunities are listed below. You're bound to find something you love.

We also provide community service hours for those interested.

Front Desk/Greeting

As a front desk volunteer you'll provide a warm welcome to anyone interested in engaging in The Movement's various services.

Greeters are responsible for engaging the patrons of the bar/club in which we're testing to promote our free HIV testing, distribute factual information related to HIV & STIs, and pass out our Movement branded condom packets.

CTR/HIV Testing

*CTR: Counseling, Testing, and Referrals

Interested in becoming a HIV tester for The Movement? We allow our experienced volunteers to become CTR certified and eligible to conduct HIV testing in the state of Louisiana.

Event Planning with ME + U

ME + U is The Movement's social program dedicated to young gay and bisexual black males. The program is led with the input of its core group members - guys of the community with a burning desire to host events.

If you're interested in helping to design, plan, and host events that are open to the community Core Group is for you!

Condom Packet Making

We hand out condoms and lube at our outreach and testing events and these nifty packets go as quickly as we're able to make them.

We encourage groups (of any size) who are looking for community service/volunteer hours to help us out with this task.
